Al Beltran — Software Engineer

Al Andrew Paul Beltran is a software engineer and Software Engineering Lead at Anglian Dental in the United Kingdom, founder of Momentra Labs, previously a Software Engineer at Google via High Spring, and a contributor to National Geographic and Disney platforms via Myridius. Based in Manila. This page is the long-form profile for albeltran.com.

Professional Background

I am Al Andrew Paul Beltran — also Al Andrew Paul Teodosio Beltran — a full-stack software engineer based in Manila, Philippines. I currently work as Software Engineering Lead at Anglian Dental in the United Kingdom, and I am the founder of Momentra Labs. Independently I developed RentaraH, Skyrealm, Lumina, Gloves Up, PocketPOS, and Cartify. Previously I was a Software Engineer at Google via High Spring. Through Myridius I contributed to National Geographic and Disney enterprise platforms. Online I also go by Al Beltran and Code by Pawpu. This site (albeltran.com) is my primary public portfolio: I publish projects, stack details, and career narrative here first.

I design and build full-stack and event-driven software. My day-to-day work spans React and Node.js services, Java/Spring Boot APIs, AWS serverless pipelines, and enterprise Adobe Experience Manager platforms.

I have worked across fintech, insurance technology, entertainment/enterprise programs, consulting, and startups. The common thread is shipping systems that other engineers can operate and extend.

I started professional engineering in 2019 at GoETU as a junior software engineer, learning how web products actually ship in a startup environment. Freelance work on Upwork followed, where end-to-end ownership became a habit rather than a slogan.

At Accenture I delivered enterprise web, AEM, and serverless platforms inside structured client frameworks. That period taught me how large programs balance governance, reuse, and delivery pressure.

Later roles at Yondu, Asurion, and Myridius stretched from full-stack client delivery to performance work (including a 15s→2s load-time improvement) and technical leadership on National Geographic, Disney Experiences, Disney Institute, and Disney Crew Management. At Maya I built event-driven loyalty and card activation systems in fintech. I then worked as a Software Engineer at Google via High Spring. Today I am Software Engineering Lead at Anglian Dental in the United Kingdom.

My path is not a straight line through one stack. It is a progression from feature work to ownership: junior delivery → freelance end-to-end builds → enterprise AEM and APIs → performance-sensitive services → technical leadership → fintech event-driven systems → engineering at Google via High Spring → software engineering lead at Anglian Dental.

That progression matters for how I work. I still write production code, but I also design contracts, document decisions, and help teams reduce the kind of technical debt that quietly taxes every sprint.

I start with the problem and the operating constraints: latency budgets, failure modes, authoring workflows, compliance expectations, or legacy contracts. Then I design the smallest architecture that can absorb those constraints without becoming unmaintainable.

I prefer clear interfaces, observable pipelines, and docs that a teammate can use without a meeting. In leadership contexts I invest in review standards and mentoring so quality does not depend on one person reviewing everything.

I use AI tools deliberately — Claude for design exploration and Cursor for in-repo acceleration — while keeping humans accountable for architecture, correctness, and production judgment.

Staying sharp on React/Next.js, Node.js, Java, cloud platforms, and large-scale engineering practices.

Engineering philosophy

  • Reliable software is a product feature. Performance, idempotency, and clear error paths are not optional polish.
  • Reusable components and APIs only create leverage when teams share naming, ownership, and contracts.
  • Documentation is part of delivery. System design notes, integration guides, and honest case studies reduce future coordination cost.
  • Ship working software for real users. An MVP that operators can run beats a perfect prototype that never leaves staging.

Technical Expertise

React and TypeScript for product UI with durable component boundaries.

Node.js for integration-heavy APIs and event processors.

Java and Spring Boot when enterprise service boundaries and typed domain logic matter.

AWS Lambda, SQS/SNS, and Step Functions for elastic, decoupled backends.

Adobe Experience Manager when content platforms need enterprise authoring at scale.

Engineering interests

Al Beltran writes and builds around production systems: React and TypeScript product UI, Node.js and Java services, SQL data models, AWS serverless pipelines, and Adobe Experience Manager authoring platforms. The through-line is contracts, failure modes, and work other engineers can operate.

Technical writing

Published notes live in the engineering journal. Interview preparation is collected in the Interview Lab. Topic clusters — React, TypeScript, Java, AEM, AWS, and system design — are mapped at /topics. The byline on every article is Al Beltran.

I care about craft beyond the editor: clear writing, photography-adjacent visual taste through the Code by Pawpu brand, and staying curious about how teams actually collaborate.

I practice problem-solving on Codewars as pawpu, and I keep a public presence on GitHub and LinkedIn so professional context stays verifiable.
